How to get to Waiheke

Waiheke Island is located 35 minutes from downtown Auckland on a regular ferry service. The Fullers Waiheke ferry departs every 30 minutes during the summer season to and from the Auckland Downtown ferry terminal and the Matiatia ferry terminal on Waiheke. Taking the ferry to Waiheke is a great way to start your island adventure and it cruises past Rangitoto and Motutapu Islands on the way.

There is also the option of the Sealink car ferry which leaves from Auckland city or East Auckland and takes approximately one hour.

Once you arrive at the island, Pacific Escape is perfectly located just five minutes drive from the ferry. It is situated very close to Oneroa Village where you’ll find great restaurants, the Waiheke Art Gallery and an eclectic range of shops. Also the well-known Mudbrick and Cable Bay Vineyards are located in Oneroa. Little Oneroa Beach is just a five minute walk from the house and has a great playground for the kids, a fish & chip shop, a wood fired pizza food truck and a local convenience store. Within a 10 minute drive, you can reach Onetangi Beach and on the way enjoy a stop at Tantalus Estate Vineyard and Restaurant or Wild on Waiheke Brewery and Restaurant and a number of other award winning wineries, restaurants and beaches.

Getting Around Waiheke

For a shorter weekend stay it is very easy to get around using Waiheke taxis, the local island hop-on-hop-off bus service, or enjoying a Waiheke wine tour. But if you really want to explore, we recommend booking a Waiheke rental car and there are numerous options that can be picked up at the Matiatia ferry terminal.
